These pages are dedicated to the struggles of our ancestors (particularly those in the historic movements for freedom, justice and liberty for all of our people).
On November 2, 1983, a bill was finally passed by both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate and signed into law by the President declaring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday a national holiday. The first national celebration of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday took place on January 20, 1986.
